VISITORS

Am I welcome here?

Yes! As we gather at Christ's table in worship, the minister says,

"This is Christ's table, it is not our own; all who love the Christ and who long to love him more are welcome here" - and that is what we strive to live out in community.  Whatever your history and wherever you are on your spiritual journey, we hope to be a place where you feel welcome to worship, serve, explore, question, and grow in your faith.

Where are you located?

The city of Brookhaven is located just north of Buckhead and our church is at the corner of Peachtree Road and Lanier Dr., between Oglethorpe University and Patterson’s Funeral Home. The address is 4500 Peachtree Road, Brookhaven, GA 30319. Parking is available in front of and behind the church, as well as at Patterson's funeral home next door.

When should I arrive?

Online and In-person worship begins at 11:00 a.m. on Sundays, and we usually begin welcoming people into worship at 10:45 a.m. We also have a more casual Outdoor Worship gathering each Wednesday at 7 p.m. in our Prayer Garden (weather permitting).  Small Groups for all ages meet at various times; contact our church office or visit the "Get Involved" tab on our website for more details.

What should I wear?

Wear whatever you'd like. There is no dress code, official or otherwise - just be yourself.

What will the service be like?

Our service lasts about an hour. We worship together in a media and arts-infused setting that combines both traditional and modern elements. We read scripture, pray with one another, and usually have a sermon or message. We also take communion every time we worship. Anyone is welcome to take communion if you choose. We sing music in a variety of styles, and we often use drama, video, and other types of artistic presentations in our worship.

What do you believe?

While we hold many things in common as congregations and as individuals, you'll find that as Disciples of Christ, many of us come from diverse areas on the theological map. We believe that those differences don't divide us, but make us a stronger church. When people wish to join our church, we only ask one question: “Do you believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, Savior and Lord?” We believe that everything else gets worked out in community. In all things we desire to live out the call of Jesus to love God and our neighbor through our mission:  to connect, serve, grow, disciple, and love.

Will anyone bother me during or after I visit?

We go to great lengths to ensure you feel welcome at Brookhaven Christian Church. We will be pleased to have you, but will not embarrass you or single you out in any fashion. If you leave us contact information, we will try to follow up with you by email or phone. We also invite you to connect with us by signing up to receive our Weekly e-News.  But we will not come knock on your door, flood your inbox with emails or try to intrude on your busy life. We also welcome you to ask questions of anyone in our congregation or contact one of ministers if you want more information.

How do I get involved?

Volunteer and ministry opportunities are advertised throughout the year. Our Outreach projects take place year-round and rotate monthly, with hands-on ways to serve our many ministry partners.  We invite folks of all ages to use their gifts in worship or to connect with one another in a Small Group or through one of our seasonal Bible Studies. And we interact with our neighbors and serve our community through our annual pumpkin fundraiser, yard sale, and more!  We would love for you to join us!
