For those of you who were not in worship this past Sunday, you might not have heard that our partners in the International Christian Church will be leaving us near the end of summer. They have found some property north of Atlanta nearer to a larger Cambodian community and have decided that they need to strike out to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ to that population. I cannot express how sad I am to see them go, but neither can I hide my pride and joy at their decision. They are doing what we are all called to do: move into the world and be witnesses of the grace of God.
We have much to learn from our ICC brothers and sisters: perseverance in overcoming the most dire of situations; faith in the face of great adversity; the ability to continually trust to God’s grace and keep moving forward; the joy that comes from finding peace in the community of faith; the desire to serve others, first, last and always. We may have helped them with a place to regroup and grow stronger, but they have let us see much more clearly what the kingdom of God looks like.
We are not saying goodbye to the ICC. They will continue to be part of us, and we of them. We will find opportunities on a regular basis to fellowship, worship and serve together. On a weekly basis we may be in different places, but we will joyfully be working together, serving the same God, the same Gospel with the same goal: to make disciples of all the world.
We are in the midst of planning a special sendoff for our Cambodian brother and sisters before they head off. At that time, we will share in food and fellowship, recognize the ICC and their unmistakable impact on BCC, and allow all of us a time to say Godspeed to our friends as they undertake the next part of their journey. As soon as a date is finalized, you will be informed.
To that end, we want to send them off with our love, our blessings and some tangible reminder of their time with us. We are asking that all who so desire to make a “Love Offering” to the ICC so that we can use this love offering to present them a sanctuary communion set so that we might always be in communion together, and a check for them to use to refurbish their new space, buy Sunday school materials or whatever they might need to begin their ministry in Sugar Hill. If you would like to contribute, simply send a check to the church, or drop it in the offering plate on Sunday. Make the check out to BCC and write “LOVE OFFERING” in the memo line. (But SHHHHHH…keep it quiet...the gift is a surprise….)
Let’s send them off knowing full well that they are loved, that they will be missed, and that they have made us better for sharing their journey with us.

For your prayer lists Congratulations to Jim and Julie Mowrey on their 25th Wedding Anniversary yesterday. They must’ve gotten married when they were 12…
Keep Lynda Anderson and her family in your prayers after the passing of Lynda’s step-mother Esther Dale. The memorial service is Thursday July 9th at 11:00 a.m. at The Cremation Society of the South’s Marietta Chapel on Franklin Rd.
Please keep Connie, a co-worker of Ruth Dunker’s in your prayers. She is dealing with the health issues of her 94 year old mother as her sole caregiver and juggling a very demanding job. Please pray for peace and strength for Connie in this difficult time.
Upcoming Events For the next two weeks, BCC is happy to be welcoming the future thespians of Atlanta when it hosts TheatreWorks Theatre Camp! The kids and their counselor/teachers will be on site at BCC the next two weeks Monday through Friday. Break a leg, campers! I hope to see you Sunday as we once again celebrate the Lord’s Day together. The scripture this week is 2 Corinthians 12:2-10 and the sermon is “Prove It”….and I mean it this time! Have a great rest of the week.
Be peaceful,
